Rest Day

Today we just took it easy around the house.  After a breakfast of cereal, fragole (strawberries), and espresso out on the porch, Gary and I headed down the hill a bit to watch the bike race - Granfondo Michele Bartoli.  The English language page of their website wasn't working, so we are just guessing, but it looked like it was part race, part charity/event ride.  The front pack flew by, then the rest came in small groups over the next 20 minutes.  No one in Italy wears solid black bike shorts - all multi-colored, at the very least black and white, and matching the jersey.
By the time we walked back up the hill it was 11:00 and warming up.  Headed out to the pool for a bit, then a lunch of prosciutto, mozzarella, melone, pane (bread), figs and cherries, and insalata mista.  Headed back out to the pool to read (La Bella Figura), but kept dozing off and finally gave up when I woke up with a start after my elbow, connected to the arm holding up my head, slipped off the chair - went inside for a more comfortable nap time!  Wrapped up the day after the nap with more pool time, dinner - grilled chicken, hamburgers, & zucchini, green beans, more pane, and a nice vino rosso - and pinochle.
Tomorrow's agenda includes a guided tour of Lucca and pizza night.  And here it is, your moment of zen - the view from our window:
